West Papua Army

West Papua Army (henceforth WPA) is the Military Command Structure of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), established on 1 May 2019, based on the “May 1st Declaration of 2019”, at the Central Headquarters of West Papua Revoluationary Army (WPRA), Vanimo, Sandaun Province, the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

West Papua Army (WPA) consists of three major Military Commands:

  1. WPRA (West Papua Revolutionary Army), or TRWP (Tentara Revolusi West Papua), with Chief Gen. Mathias Wenda as the Revolutionary Commander in Chief (PANGKTIKOR);
  2. DM-TPN PB (Dewan Militer Tentara Pembebasan Nasional Papua Barat) with NIco Ipo Hau as the Chair of the Military Council, PLUS TPN/OPM (Tentara Pembebasan Nasional – Organisasi Papua Merdeka, with Gen. Abumbakarak Omawi Wenda as the Commander in Chief.
  3. TNPB (Tentara Nasional Papua Barat) – West Papua National Mlitary belongs to the Federal Republic of West Papua.
